  1. Trigger based on CPU usage

I often leave work at night with a calculation job running. I can now set the machine to not sleep for X hours which is great, but I don't always know how long the job will take. I would be good to say "Don't sleep until CPU usage drops below 25%" for example. The CPU usage would need to be averaged over 1 or even ten minutes to take into accounts the job doing some IO or something low CPU for a bit.

  2. Prevent messages app from showing idle

I would like Amphetamine to prevent the Messages (iChat) app from showing idle when connected to a Jabber server.

  3. I'll be great to be able to add an Amphetamine shortcut to the TouchBar in MacBook Pro

Amphetamine should have the ability to add an icon to the Touch Bar in MacBook Pro for easy access

    Hi,

There isn’t a really good solution for implementing this. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to add a permanent TouchBar button to turn Amphetamine on/off, but Apple won’t allow this. Only system functions can go on the control strip, and the other part of the TouchBar is context aware. Meaning, Amphetamine has to be the active application for its TouchBar interface to appear. If this is the case, seems a hot key might be just as good (which Amphetamine supports).

  4. Amphetamine - HTTP request trigger

Would be great if I could set a URL that the app would poll every X seconds and based on the HTTP response from that URL it would activate/deactivate the session. The response could be as simple as "true" or "false".

I have a home office where I have several computers (mostly Macs, but Win & Linux also) and currently 8 monitors. I would like to save energy when not in the room by making all the monitors go into stand by mode. If this kind of functionality was enabled, I could have a physical switch that I switch on…

    Hi,

This sounds like a really neat idea! Unfortunately, it also seems like a bit of an edge case. I’m hesitant to add a Trigger for everything under the sun. Could you accomplish this with AppleScript? Amphetamine is scriptable, you know… ;)

  5. It'd be great to see Amphetamine had a trigger to stay awake when a Terminal command is running.

I didn't see the application in my Terminal session show up in the application list even with "Don't show system & helper apps in list" unchecked. It would be great if Amphetamine could have a trigger for Terminal commands so that downloads and uncompressing as well as server apps via the Terminal would be supported.

  6. I'd love to be able to have a trigger for Amphetamine when it's on a particular web page, rather than just when the browser is running.

We have to have a very brief idle period before sleep/log in due to security/privacy requirements, but there is one infrequent instance when we'd very much prefer not to have to repeatedly log in to a web based system. We don't want a running browser to keep the system awake under most circumstances.

  8. It would be great to have an iphone app that does the same thing

When listening to music on my iphone, it will go to the locked screen. Then if I want to change the music track or do anything related, I have to unlock the screen, find the app, and do the action. I'd like to keep the phone from locking so it's easier - also applies to using other apps on my iphone.

  9. It would be great if Amphetamine had a checkbox, which makes it not start the screensaver whilst VLC is the frontmost app.

Hi, thank you for making this app, I like it a lot, but I have one problem with it, which is that whilst watching any video via the vlc app, after 5 minutes the screensaver starts up. I have set amphetamine so that the screensaver starts after 5 minutes, but I don’t want it to do this whilst I’m watching something in vlc.

Therefore I would like to request that the amphetamine app has a checkbox, which makes it not start the screensaver whilst vlc is the frontmost app.

Or, perhaps you can think of another way to solve the…

  10. Why not release as Open Source?

It's free software, it's a nice and simple utility so why don't open up to developers releasing to Github?
You could get a lot of free help and people could learn somenthing from it.
I'm currently contributing to Noti (https://github.com/jariz/Noti) and it's amazing the ideas that came up bringing more people to work together.

  11. Sleep When Session Ends (Amphetamine 3)

I would like to use Amphetamine to send my Mac to sleep right after a session ends without taking into account the internal settings in System Preferences / Energy Saver, i.e. if my session ends after 5 hours send the machine to sleep right away.

  12. Create rule when OpenVPN is connected

Usually OpenVPN is always running. And if computer sleeps OpenVPN stops receiving refresh token. After computer wake up OpenVPN asks password and MFA token. It's annoying. It would be nice to apply rule do not sleep when OpenVPN is connected only. If it's running but not connected - then no problem to put computer in a sleep mode.

  13. Drive Awake on time schedule

I'd like to have Drive Awake on during office hours, so external drives won't use energy saving features in the day but spin down and rest in the night.

  14. I love it all but a request ...

to have an option in the settings to choose a default app for "While app is running" instead of choosing it every time.. For example: uTorrent.

I would like to start the session, without the end time. Currently, I have to define both start and end time.

  16. Amphetamine can be triggered by All Unknown WiFi Name (excluding the Known WiFi Name)

Amphetamine can be triggered by All Unknown WiFi Name (excluding the Known WiFi Name).

Now, this app just can be triggered by the Known WiFi Name.

    Thanks!

  17. Add a menu option to manually let Macbook hibernate

As per default, my Macbook Pro goes to sleep (not hibernation) after x minutes of inactivity.

Please consider implementing a menu-bar-button to manually send my Macbook to hibernation (without changing the default = sleep.)

    Thank you!

  18. Amphetamine - Deploy settings plist

It would be nice if you could change the settings of Amphetamine by editing or replacing a file, which stores the settings. If I do this with the current version my edited file gets replaced by the old one. That would be a big advantage if you have to deploy the app on hundreds of Macs.

During operation, Amphetamine mainly looks to the checkbox states and selected list items in the Preferences UI to determine its behavior. It rarely looks to its .plist for anything after launch.

At launch, of course, Amphetamine, loads all of its data and settings from the plist. If you want to change Amphetamine’s settings by editing its .plist file, I think you’ll need to do 2 things:

    1) Make sure Amphetamine is not running.
    2) Use the defaults command line tool. Do not edit the file directly with a text editor.

macOS now caches defaults, so changing .plist the file directly without using the defaults command will most often not work.

  19. Release a website version of the app and add closed lid function

    Hey,
U understand that in the Mac App Store version it is not possible for Amphetamine to keep MacBooks awake, while the lid is closed. So why not releasing a version of Amphetamine on your website to "fix" this inconvenience of not having this possibility. There is an app "InsomniaX" which is really great at doing exactly that but unfortunately it has not the other great features Amphetamine offers, and the app is no longer developed.
